I love mountain biking.
Thing is though, I’m not particularly fit, I’m the wrong side of 40, I can barely fix a puncture, (let alone service and maintain disc brakes) and I really am not all that skilled or graceful on a bike.
None of this has stopped biking putting a smile on my face however. I go out, I get muddy, I bottle a couple of technical “trail features”, I get out of puff and I go home happy. Usually very happy.
The two things that prevent me from doing more mountain biking are work and my family. I live on the south coast with my wife and two young daughters (one of whom already has a bike and regularly joins me in the mud) and to fund their luxury lifestyle I commute into London to work as an IT manager. Commuting eats huge chunks of my life, it effectively prevents me from enjoying evening rides when the June sun shines past 9pm, commuting is evil. As far as I’m concerned, the opposite to a bike is a train.
Thankyou for taking the time and effort to make such an informative, entertaining and inspiring site. At last there is a site for riders of indeterminate fitness, riding bikes under 6k but who enjoy being out there none the less.
Cheers Ian, glad you like it.
